Jolt: Tic Tac Toe
iPhone app by Kamal Nasir
Tic tac toe for iPhone and iPad that can never end in a draw: in Jolt each player keeps only three pieces, and no move may repeat a board position.
What it does
- Each player has only three pieces on the board: place a fourth and your oldest one vanishes.
- No move may put the board back exactly as it already was, so a game cannot stall into a tie.
- 1 Player against the computer at Easy, Normal or Hard, where Hard runs a full minimax search.
- 2 Players pass one iPhone or iPad back and forth, with nothing to set up and no second account to make.
- Online rooms: create a room, send the six-character code to a friend and play from anywhere. Creating a room needs Jolt Pro. Joining with a code, and the 1 Player and 2 Player modes, need no subscription.
- The piece you are about to lose is faded and marked with a red dot, so you can see what your next move costs.
- A profile for each player with their own name and color, plus wins, losses, win rate, a head to head record for every pairing and a leaderboard.
Questions people ask
Is there a tic tac toe game that cannot end in a draw?
Yes. Jolt changes two rules: each player keeps only three pieces, and no move may repeat a board position. Together they force every game to finish with three in a row. Its maker simulated 40,000 games and every one ended in a win.
Can I play tic tac toe online with a friend on iPhone?
Yes. In Jolt, one player creates a room and sends its six-character code, and the friend joins from anywhere with that code. Creating a room needs Jolt Pro, and joining with a code does not.
Does Jolt have ads or need an account?
No. There are no banners, interstitials or video ads, nothing to sign up for and no email to give. Players and stats stay on your device, and online games use an anonymous sign-in you never fill in.
